Arqguia coloring entertains children and adults. The digital coloring book instigates everyone to do a visual rereading of the main architectonic icons of City of Rio de Janeiro. Available for free download in English and Portuguese, the drawings come with QR codes which give direct access to the work’s description at the architecture online guide Arqguia Rio. All it takes is to access the link at the end of this article. The book launch is part of the calendar Rio World Capital of Architecture.

Conceived by architects and urban planners Douglas Pestana, Isabela Ledo, Lucas Franco and Maria Fernanda Duarte, from the teams of Arqguia Rio and MT – Architecture, the book aims to provide moments of creativity, interaction and family fun in the period of social distancing, due to the new coronavirus (Covid-19), and in the months that will follow until the school’s routine is back to normal. “In addition to its playful aspect, the project also aims to arouse the interest, especially of children, for Rio’s rich architectural and cultural heritage”, says Lucas Franco.

Arqguia Coloring emerges in a special context: the city of Rio de Janeiro is the first World Capital of Architecture, a title offered by Unesco and the International Union of Architects, and will host the 27th World Congress of Architects (UIA2021RIO) in July 2021. With the theme “All the worlds. Just one world. Architecture 21”, UIA2021RIO is the biggest and most important international forum of architects.

The initiative has the institutional support of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Committee Rio 2020 World Capital of Architecture – UNESCO.UIA, the Executive Committee of UIA2021RIO, the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB), and the Council of Architecture and Urban Planning of Rio de Janeiro (CAU / RJ).
